03.06.2013 FINAL VICTORY

Posted under Reflections on June 2nd, 2013 by

GOSPEL READING: MARK 12:1-12

Then he leased it to tenant farmers

Owner of the vineyard has control over everything though he is far away from the land. He is the master and he has the power over the tenants; power even to pout them to death. So he has the supreme power (power in every respect) and the tenants cannot do anything against the owner. They cannot try to destroy him. But they could do anything with the servants of the owner and even with the son.

The world today and always appears similar to this. The tenants in the world think that they have the power and they can do anything. Their work is negative and destructive. People are also attracted by the seemingly success of the tenants. They seem even to have succeeded in destroying the good ones (son). But the creator God has the final word.

02.06.2013 PROVIDENCE

Posted under Reflections on June 2nd, 2013 by

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 9:11b-17

“Give them some food yourselves.”

In the Bible we find God always providing food to the creature. This is God’s providence. (God also said: “See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food; and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food.” Gen 1:29ff) Not only at creation even after exodus (Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will now rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion Ex 16:4 – In the evening quail came up and covered the camp. Ex 16: 13)

In the New Testament Jesus provides food for the hungry. He feeds five thousand and then again he fees four thousand and he provides wine at the wedding turning water into wine etc. Finally he provides himself as the food for all. Provider himself becomes the food. He offers his life (blood) and body (base for all activities). He becomes the food and in fact he is the food for all. The disciples are asked to do likewise (You provide them)
