Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 18:33-37

“My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants (would) be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here.”

Kingdom of Jesus is different and distinct from that of the world. The kingdom of the world is temporal, material, and geographical. In a sense they are negative description of the kingdom. They only speak of the limitations of the kingdom. The earthly kingdom is time bound, and it can be destroyed and it can also lose it territory.

Kingdom of Jesus is universal, eternal, and the other worldly. The kingdom of Jesus is all inclusive (no one is excluded from this) and it has no time restrictions and it has no special limitations. In a sense the kingdom of Jesus is the kingdom of God. God is the head of this kingdom and everyone and everything is in this kingdom.

‘எனது ஆட்சி இவ்வுலக ஆட்சி போன்றது அல்ல. அது இவ்வுலக ஆட்சி போன்றதாய் இருந்திருந்தால் நான் யூதர்களிடம் காட்டிக் கொடுக்கப்படாதவாறு என் காவலர்கள் போராடியிருப்பார்கள். ஆனால் என் ஆட்சி இவ்வுலக ஆட்சி போன்றது அல்ல”

இயேசுவின் ஆட்சி இவ்வுலக ஆட்சியைவிட வித்தியாசமானது. இவ்வுலக ஆட்சி காலத்திற்கு உட்பட்டது; அழியக்கூடிய பொருள்களைக் கொண்டுள்ளது; இடங்களை சார்ந்தது. ஆனால் இயேசுவின் ஆட்சி காலங்களை கடந்தது; இடங்களுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது; அழியாதது.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 20:27-40

And he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.

Biblical God is the God of revelation. He revealed himself to Moses as God of the living. God who is in the heavens lives with the angels and the resurrected people. God associates himself with people of life. He is the God of the resurrection.

But the Sadducees believed in a God who was to fit into their earthly thinking. They thought of everything from their experience and had meaning only to their reasoning and experience. So they could not think of a God who was beyond death. Their perception of God was wrong. They considered God according to their human experience and understanding.

அவர் இறந்தோரின் கடவுள் அல்ல; மாறாக, வாழ்வோரின் கடவுள். ஏனெனில் அவரைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில் அனைவரும் உயிருள்ளவர்களே” என்றார்.

வெளிப்பாட்டின் கடவுள் உயிருள்ளவர்; அவர் உயிர்ப்பின் கடவுள்; உயிருள்ளவர்களின் கடவுள். சதுசேயர்கள் கடவுளை தங்களின் சிந்தனை உலகிற்கேற்ப, தங்களின் அனுபவத்திற்கேற்ப, தங்கள் விருப்பத்திற்கேற்ப கடவுளை சித்தரிக்கிறார்கள்.
