Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 7:31-35

“But wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

People of this generation are making judgement on what they see and hear. They see the actions of people and make judgement on them as possessed and glutton and drunkard. They see the externals and make judgement on persons. Such behaviour is like that of the children who play games. They are only games and not realities.

Wisdom is to see the intention of the person and the plan of God behind all these. For this Jesus has said: “the Pharisees and scholars of the law, who were not baptized by him, rejected the plan of God for themselves” (Lk 7:30). Actions in themselves reveal only external realities but not the plan of God. Only a man of wisdom will be able to see the true and complete realities.

எனினும் ஞானம் மெய்யானது என்பதற்கு அதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டோரின் செயல்களே சான்று” என்றார்.

வெளி அடையாளங்களை மட்டும் கண்டு அதன்மீது தீர்ப்பிடுபவர்கள் தெருக்களில் விளையாடும் சிறுவர்களுக்கு ஒப்பானவர்கள். ஞானத்தின்படி தீர்ப்பிடுபவர்கள் கடவுளின் திட்டத்தை உலகில் காண்பவர்கள். (ஆனால் பரிசேயரும் திருச்சட்ட அறிஞரும் அவர் கொடுத்த திருமுழுக்கைப் பெறாது, தங்களுக்கென்று கடவுள் வகுத்திருந்த திட்டத்தைப் புறக்கணித்தார்கள். லூக்கா 7:30). கடவுள் திட்டத்தை உலகில் காண்பவனே ஞானம் பெற்றவன்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 7:11-17

When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

Jesus did not know anything about the woman earlier. Jesus was a very good observer and observed at the funeral that the woman was a widow and the dead man was the only son (breadwinner) of the woman. Her husband was dead (she had no past); her son was dead (no future) and she was almost like a dead person.

Jesus was moved with pity for her. Jesus came into the world to give life and let people live. He told the woman: “Do not weep”. Jesus came into the world remove sadness. When people weep and cry he says “Do not weep”. Not only had he said this in word but also in deed. He preached this as well (Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh – Luke 6:21).

அவரைக் கண்ட ஆண்டவர், அவர்மீது பரிவுகொண்டு, ‘அழாதீர்” என்றார்.

இயேசு அந்த பெண்ணின் நிலையை நன்கு கண்டுணர்ந்தார். கணவரை இழந்தவர் என்பதனால் கடந்தகாலத்தை இழந்தவராகவும்; மகனை இழந்ததனால் எதிர்காலத்தை இழந்தவராகவும்; யாரும் இல்லாததால் வாழ்வை இழந்தவராகவும் காணப்படுகிறாள். மக்கள் கடவுளில் மகிழ்ந்திருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதால் இயேசு கூறுகிறார் “அழாதீர்”. இது அவருடைய போதனையாகவும் இருந்தது: (இப்பொழுது அழுது கொண்டிருப்போரே, நீங்கள் பேறுபெற்றோர்; ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் சிரித்து மகிழ்வீர்கள் – லூக்கா 6:21)
