Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 14:1.7-14

Places, positions and posts are relative. One may consider oneself or someone else to be a man of great honour but it will not be the same in the view of another. It is this that should make one to choose a lower place. Otherwise one should be ready to be ashamed in front of all. Places and positions and posts are in the mind of the one who has invited.

Invitation for dinners and lunches should not be reciprocal. Mutual celebrations are rewards in themselves. Celebrate life with the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind. These people cannot pay back anything. Followers of Jesus should long for only one repayment and that is resurrection and the life after that.

சீடர்கள் வாழ்விலும் பணியிலும் கைம்மாறு எதிர்பார்க்கக்கூடாது. விருந்தினர்கள் பந்தியில் முதன்மையான இடங்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தல் சரியானதல்ல. இடங்கள் நாம் நிர்ணயிப்பதல்ல மாறாக நம்மை அழைத்தவர் செய்கிறார். பயன்களை எதிர்பார்த்து பணிசெய்யக்கூடாது. உயிர்ப்பும் மறுவாழ்வுமே பிரதிபலன்களாக இருக்கவேண்டும்.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 25:14-30

God does not want to keep things for himself. He is not possessive. He shares everything with his creatures. He has shared his goodness with them at creation. Now he shares his responsibility with them. He shares it with everyone but according to their capabilities. He expects that they return with their successes.

Men come back to give account of their efforts. Their responsibilities and their efforts are acknowledged by God. They are also rewarded for their efforts. Reward is in terms of further responsibilities. More works. But they also share the joys of the master. However master does not tolerate the lazy worker. He punishes him.

உலகைப் படைத்த இறைவன் படைப்போடு தன்னையே (நன்மையை) பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறான். பொறுப்பையும் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறான். பொறுப்புள்ள மனிதர்கள் வெற்றியையும் அதன் பயன்களையும் கணக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும். முயற்சி எடுத்து வெற்றி பெற்ற பணியாளர்கள் தலைவனுடைய மகிழ்ச்சியில் பங்கு கொள்கிறார்கள்.
