Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 19: 16-22

In this dialogue with the youth, Jesus answers the questions raised by the youth. Jesus advices the youth towards the eternal life and when he finds the youth interested he answers his questions. Jesus finds the youth to be good. Jesus wanted him to work towards perfection.

Youth are good and they also want to be perfect and they also follow the rules of the society and the religion. But this particular youth has certain attachment. He has wealth and he is attached to the wealth. Since the youth wanted to be perfect and wanted to gain eternal life Jesus proposed to him to let go everything.

இளைஞர்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் சிறந்தோங்க விரும்புகிறார்கள். நிலைவாழ்வைப்பற்றியும் அதை அடைவதற்கான வழிகளையும் தேடுகிறார்கள். இயேசுவும் ஆர்வமுடன் பதில் கொடுக்கிறார். உலகு> உலகு சார்ந்த பொருள்கள் மேல் உள்ள பற்றுகளை அவர்கள் விட்டுவிட்டு முழு மனதுடன் இளைஞர்கள் நிலைவாழ்வை நாடவேண்டும் என்பதே இயேசுவின் விருப்பம்.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 6:51-58

Jesus offers himself as the life-giving food for the people. His body and blood (the Jews believed that life was in the blood) and that is the whole person is offered as food for the people. It is not the dead body (useless, decaying flesh) rather it is the life-giving body and blood is given to the people. This food is that which has come down from heaven. This food is given by the Father and this is far superior (and beyond comparison) when compared with the manna.

This food is life-giving; it gives eternal life; it gives resurrection; and it gives communion with Jesus and in turn with the Father. The present-people are far superior to the ancestors. The ancestors were also cared for by the Father and were fed in the wilderness by the Father. That was only the foretaste of what was to come in Jesus. The present-people are given the opportunity to be in communion with Jesus and be united with him forever and this is through sharing of his life in his body and blood.

இயேசு தான் வாழ்வுதரும் உணவு@ அவர் விண்ணிலிருந்து வந்தவர்@ தந்தையால் அனுப்பப்பட்டவர். அவருடைய சதையும் இரத்தமுமே (உயிருல்ல) வாழ்வுதரும். இந்த உணவை உண்பவர்கள் நிலைவாழ்வை பெறுவர்@ உயிர்ப்பை பெறுவர்@ இயேசுவின் உறவைப் பெறுவர்@ இயேசுவோடு இனைந்திருப்பர்@ தந்தையோடும் இனைந்திருப்பர்@ மன்னா உண்ட முன்னோரைப் போல் அல்லாது (அவர்கள் மாண்டனர்) என்றென்றும் வாழ்வர்.
