Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 15:9-11

As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.

Love of the Father for Jesus is seen in his love for the world. Both the loves are intertwined. God so love the world that he sent his son into the world. Love of the Father for Jesus was expressed in his commission of Jesus for the redemption of the world. Jesus accepted the love of the Father that he was ready to go any extent to love the Father in return.

Jesus loved his disciples in the same way would only mean that the disciples should be ready to sacrifice themselves for the redemption of the world. Since the disciples are loved by Jesus (as the Father loved him) they should in turn be ready to be like Jesus to sacrifice themselves for the redemption of the world.

என் தந்தை என் மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளதுபோல நானும் உங்கள்மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளேன். என் அன்பில் நிலைத்திருங்கள்.

தந்தை இயேசுவின் மீது கொண்டுள்ள அன்பு அளவிடமுடியாதது. அந்த அன்பினால்த்தான் தந்தை இயேசுவை உரிமையோடு உலகிற்கு அனுப்பினார். இயேசுவும் அதே உரிமையோடு சீடர்களோடு உறவுகொண்டுள்ளார். இயேசு சீடர்கள்மீது கொண்டுள்ள அன்பு அதே உரிமையோடுதான். சீடர்கள் தங்களையே உலக மீட்புக்காக அழிக்க தயாராக இருக்கும் நிலைதான் இயேசு அவர்கள் மீது கொண்டுள்ள அன்பு.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 13:54-58

Is he not the carpenter’s son?

Jesus is identified as a worker. His relatives and friends consider him to be nothing other than their own. They think of Jesus as a person of their village and they identify him through his mother and his brothers. There is a specific identification which links him to his father Joseph. His father is recognized as a carpenter that is his through his work.

This is important because Jesus is considered as a worker or a son of a worker. Though genealogy links to Abraham and David yet the day to day link is to the immediate relationship. It is a positive thing to realize Jesus as a worker. But Jesus also does other activities which link him to the super natural reality which they fail to recognize. They are not able to see him with an eye of faith.

இவர் தச்சருடைய மகன் அல்லவா?

இயேசுவின் நண்பர்களும் உறவினர்களும் அவரை தங்களின் வாழ்க்கை சூழலை வைத்தே பார்க்கிறார்கள். அவர்களுடைய பார்வையில் அவர் ஒரு தச்சன் (தச்சருடைய மகன்). அவர்களுடைய குடும்பத் தொழிலை வைத்தே அவரை கணிக்கிறார்கள். அது நல்லது தான். ஒருவரைப் பற்றிய நிறைவான அறிவு விசுவாசப் பார்வையையும் உள்ளடக்க வேண்டும்.
