Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 24:35-48

While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

The disciples were called to be witnesses to the ends of the earth. They start their witnesses first among themselves. They have to strengthen one another. Their witnesses have to be confirmed among themselves. Each one narrated his own experience of the risen Lord.

At the time of witnessing Jesus himself is present. He accompanied the disciples and approved their witnessing. At every witnessing He is present and he is communicating his peace. His peace is his presence. If the peace of Christ does not accompany the disciples then the witnessing has been true (could we say that?).

சீடர்கள் இவ்வாறு பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது இயேசு அவர்கள் நடுவில் நின்று, ‘உங்களுக்கு அமைதி உரித்தாகுக!” என்று அவர்களை வாழ்த்தினார்.

சீடர்கள் உயிர்ப்புக்குச் சாட்சிகளாக இருக்க அழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள். உயிர்த்த இயேசு அனுபவத்தை அவர்கள் பறைசாற்றவேண்டும். அவ்வாறு அவர்கள் அறிக்கையிடும்போது இயேசு அவர்களோடு இருக்கிறார். அவருடைய பிரசன்னத்திற்கு அடையாளம் அவருடைய (அவர் தரும்) அமைதியே.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 24:13-35

Jesus himself drew near and walked with them

This is a beautiful image of Jesus. Jesus drew near and walked with them. They did not ask for Jesus. They did not pray to God for revelation. They worked with human calculations only. They knew that everything was over and it was their turn to plan their lives and go on with it.

Jesus (God) never let things happen in human calculations only. Human calculations should be accompanied by divine interventions. Here the divine interventions do not come down on them by force. God lets thing happen in a natural way and divine revelation should only be recognized by men in his own time and situation.

கடவுளின் வெளிப்பாடு திடீரென்று வியத்தகு முறைகளில் எப்போதும் நிகழ்வதில்லை. இயல்பாக, இயற்கையாக நடப்பதுதான். ஆகவேதான் இயேசுவும் நெருங்கி வந்து அவர்களோடு நடக்கிறார். அவர்களின் இயல்புக்கு ஏற்றதுபோல், அவர்களின் வேகத்திற்கு ஏற்றதுபோல், அவர்களின் புரிதலுக்கு ஏற்றதுபோல் தன்னையே வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார்.
