GOSPEL READING: LUKE 11:29-32

and there is something greater than Jonah here.

People long for a sign. They do not believe what they at the moment or they do not accept what they hear at the moment. For the people, something should happen which is totally out of the ordinary (even if it is contradictory they do not mind). But God works through nature and in history. God reveals himself in ordinary happening and in reality. Creation itself reveals God.

Jonah preached to the people of Nineveh and he reminded them of their sins and their need for conversion. He was only a reminder and the people changed their lived and believed in God. The queen of the south listened to Solomon and believed in the Wisdom of Solomon (wisdom is a gift of God). The people of the present age struggle to believe in Jesus (they long for signs). Jesus is greater than Jonah the prophet and greater than the Wisdom of Solomon.

ஆனால் இங்கிருப்பவர் யோனாவைவிடப் பெரியவர் அல்லவா!

‘இந்தத் தீய தலைமுறையினர் அடையாளம் கேட்கின்றனர். இவர்களுக்கு யோனாவின் அடையாளத்தைத் தவிர வேறு அடையாளம் எதுவும் கொடுக்கப்பட மாட்டாது. யோனாவின் போதனையை மக்கள் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள். மனம்மாறினார்கள். மனமாற்றம் மக்கள் இறைவனை காணும்போதுதான் நிகழும். மக்கள் இறைவனை இயற்கையில் வரலாற்றில் காண வேண்டும்.

GOSPEL READING: MARK 10.17-30

“For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God.”

Jesus came into the world to reveal God and to establish God’s kingdom on the earth. In revealing God he has said, in today’s passage, two things. ‘No one is good but God alone’. Again he has said that ‘all things are possible for God’. God is good and God can do only good and everything that is done by God is good. At creation God found everything very good.

God is all powerful and everything is possible for God. Salvation is not possible by humans. Salvation is a gift from God and it totally the work of God. Discipleship is acknowledging and accepting these qualities of God and living the life in gratitude to God. Leaving everything earthly and following Jesus on earth is also acknowledging God and God’s kingdom.

‘மனிதரால் இது இயலாது. ஆனால் கடவுளுக்கு அப்படியல்ல, கடவுளால் எல்லாம் இயலும்”

கடவுளை இவ்வுலகிற்கு வெளிப்படுத்தவும், இறையாட்சியை நிறுவவுமே இயேசு இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தார். கடவுள் ஒருவரைத் தவிர நல்லவர் எவருமில்லை என்பதை வெளிப்படுத்தினார். அதோடுகூட கடவுளால் எல்லாம் இயலும் என்பதையும் வெளிப்படுதினார். இவ்வுலகில் எல்லாவற்றையும் துறந்து, இயேசுவை இவ்வுலகில் பின்செல்பவன்தான் உண்மை சீடன்.
