GOSPEL READING: LUKE 12:54-59

You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

Jesus is asking the people to read the signs of the times. People are good at reading the nature and interpreting the nature. Be is a wind or sky or anything for that matter has a message for the world. Nothing created in the world goes without any message. Nature itself has a message to all.

Jesus is challenging the people to read the history as well (signs of the times). The great movement of peoples, nations, policies should also be read and interpreted. If kingdom of God is to come on the earth then we have to address the historical happenings with message of heaven. Jesus challenged the earth with the message of Heaven.

நிலத்தின் தோற்றத்தையும் வானின் தோற்றத்தையும் ஆய்ந்து பார்க்க அறிந்திருக்கும்போது, இக்காலத்தை நீங்கள் ஆய்ந்து பாராமல் இருப்பது எப்படி?

இயற்கையின் தோற்றத்தை ஆய்ந்து அறிந்து அதற்கான விளக்கங்களை மனிதன் தருகிறான். இயேசு மனிதனுக்கு ஒரு சவால் விடுகிறார். அதாவது காலச் சூழலை மனிதன் ஆய்ந்து அறிய வேண்டும். உலக நிகழ்வுகளை மனிதன் ஆய்ந்து அறிய வேண்டும். உலக நிகழ்வுகளுக்கு விண்ணக செய்தி கொண்டு விளக்க வேண்டும்; சவால் இட வேண்டும்; அதுவே இறையாட்சி.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 12:49-53

Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.

This statement of Jesus reminds us of the Prophecy of Micah 7:6. (For the son dishonors his father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man’s enemies are those of his household). The Prophet warns of the imminent crisis and urges the listeners to trust in God.

In this incoming crisis, Jesus realizes that, his own life and death will occupy the central stage (the Baptism that he must still undergo). Jesus is astonished that the people have not recognized this yet. (people see the Roman occupation; oppressive rule of Herod: wealthy high priests: false agenda of Pharisees etc). In the midst of all these he himself is preaching the kingdom. What would be the result: a division

இயேசுவின் போதனைகளின் பின்புலம் மீக்கா 7:6. (ஏனெனில், மகன் தன் தந்தையை அவமதிக்கின்றான்@ மகள் தன் தாய்க்கு எதிராக எழும்புகின்றாள், மருமகள், தன் மாமியாரை எதிர்க்கின்றாள்@ ஒருவரின் பகைவர் அவரது வீட்டில் உள்ளவரே ஆவர். நானோ> ஆண்டவரை விழிப்புடன் நோக்கியிருப்பேன்@ என்னை மீட்கும் என் கடவுளுக்காகக் காத்திருப்பேன். என் கடவுள் எனக்குச் செவிசாய்த்தருள்வார்.) அங்கு நடக்கும் சமுதாய பின்ணணியில் இயேசுவின் வாழ்வும் பணியும் அவரை ஒரு மையப்பகுதிக்கு அழைக்கிறது (ஆயினும் நான் பெற வேண்டிய ஒரு திருமுழுக்கு உண்டு. அது நிறைவேறுமளவும் நான் மிகவும் மன நெருக்கடிக்குள்ளாகி இருக்கிறேன்.)
