Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 19: 23-30

“For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”

Jesus’ teaching about the kingdom and those who would enter the kingdom shocked the disciples and raised a question in their mind which they expressed openly to Jesus. The disciples were also thinking that the kingdom is a human reality and that man could achieve it through human endeavour.

Kingdom and kingdom related persons and activities are all God related and they are not human related. Kingdom and its activities are God’s gift and entry into the kingdom is possible only if god allows it. Human efforts cannot achieve it. Human effort is only creating space for God to act that is by letting go everything and making space for God.

விண்ணரசு, விண்ணரசு சார்ந்த பணிகள் அனைத்தும் இறைவனை சார்ந்தது. மனித முயற்சிகளால் அடையக்கூடிய ஒன்று அல்ல. மனிதன் செய்யக்கூடியது ஒன்றுதான். தன்னிடம் உள்ள அனைத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டு இறைவன் தரும் கொடைக்காக காத்திருக்க வேண்டும்.

There is only One who is good.

In this dialogue with the youth, Jesus answers the questions raised by the youth. Jesus advices the youth towards the eternal life and when he finds the youth interested he answers his questions. Jesus finds the youth to be good. Jesus wanted him to work towards perfection.

Youth are good and they also want to be perfect and they also follow the rules of the society and the religion. But this particular youth has certain attachment. He has wealth and he is attached to the wealth. Since the youth wanted to be perfect and wanted to gain eternal life Jesus proposed to him to let go everything.

இளைஞர்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் சிறந்தோங்க விரும்புகிறார்கள். நிலைவாழ்வைப்பற்றியும் அதை அடைவதற்கான வழிகளையும் தேடுகிறார்கள். இயேசுவும் ஆர்வமுடன் பதில் கொடுக்கிறார். உலகு, உலகு சார்ந்த பொருள்கள் மேல் உள்ள பற்றுகளை அவர்கள் விட்டுவிட்டு முழு மனதுடன் இளைஞர்கள் நிலைவாழ்வை நாடவேண்டும் என்பதே இயேசுவின் விருப்பம்.
