GOSPEL READING: LUKE 17:20-25

The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce

Jesus was preaching about the kingdom. He spoke so much about it that many started to wonder about its arrival and appearance. The Pharisees began to question about the kingdom. Kingdom can neither be observed nor be heard. It is not a thing of the senses. It is not an object for senses. Rather it is a presence.

The days of the son of man would also be like the kingdom. People will be expecting his coming and they will long to see one of his days. Many will interpret the naturals happening as the day of the son of man. No one can discern the day of the Lord. Lightning cannot be discerned as to where and when it appears and disappears so would the day of the Lord. Do not run after lightning says Jesus.

‘இறையாட்சி கண்களுக்குப் புலப்படும் முறையில் வராது. இதோ, இங்கே! அல்லது அதோ, அங்கே! எனச் சொல்லமுடியாது. ஏனெனில், இறையாட்சி உங்கள் நடுவேயே செயல்படுகிறது”

இறையாட்சி புலன்களுக்கு அப்பார்ப்பட்டது. அதன் வருகை@ அதன் தோற்றம் புலப்படாது. இறையாட்சியை உணர முடியும். அதன் உடனிருப்பு நம் மத்தியில் இருக்கிறது என்பதை உணர முடியும். மானிட மகனுடைய நாள்களில் ஒன்றையாவது காண முடியாது. அதைத் தேடிச்செல்வதும் வீண். மின்னல் போன்று அவரது வருகை இருக்கும். காண்பதற்குள் மறைந்துவிடும்.

Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?

Jews normally do not travel through Samaria. There was such an animosity between them that Jews from Galilee would travel twice the distance to reach Jerusalem avoiding Samaria. But Jesus does not keep such a distance from them. Cultural, social or political differences do not influence Jesus. He has his stand clear. He belongs to the kingdom and all are equal for him and kingdom is an inclusive community.

The news of healing the sick by Jesus has reached even the lepers. Lepers were away from the society and they had no communication with the rest of the people. But this news reached them somehow. They want to come back to the society and they want to become part of the society. This compels them to approach Jesus. Jesus in his turn wanted all to be members of his kingdom and all to be whole and complete.

இயேசு எருசலேமுக்குப் போய்க் கொண்டிருந்தபோது கலிலேய, சமாரியப் பகுதிகள் வழியாகச் சென்றார். வழக்கமாக யூதர்கள் சமாரியப்பகுதிகள் வழியாகச் செல்லமாட்டார்கள். இயேசுவுக்கு அந்த பாகுபாடு கிடையாது. அதேபோல் அவர் அனைவருக்கும் குணமளிக்கிறார். அதுதான் இறையாட்சி. எல்லாரையும் உள்ளடக்கக்கூடியதுதான் இறையாட்சி.
