GOSPEL READING: LUKE 6:12-19

Everyone in the crowd sought to touch him because power came forth from him and healed them all.

Jesus spent the night in prayer. We also see him going to the synagogue to pray. He joins the community and his people in prayer: reading the scriptures in the synagogue, explaining the scriptures, and praying with the community. Here in this passage he spent the night in prayer on the mountain. He was alone with God: personal prayer.

When he came down, he chose the apostle from among the disciples; and there was a large crowd of disciples; and there were also a large number of people from Judea and Jerusalem. Power went out of him and healed many people. He got the power from God during his prayer. He went to God to charge himself (he got power from God) so that he could continue the work of healing.

அவரிடமிருந்து வல்லமை வெளிப்பட்டு அனைவர் பிணியையும் போக்கியதால்> அங்குத் திரண்டிருந்த மக்கள் யாவரும் அவரைத் தொட முயன்றனர்.

இயேசு மக்களோடும் ஜெபித்தார்: ஜெபகூடத்திற்கு சென்றார்; இறைவார்த்தையை வாசித்தார்; விளக்கினார்; ஜெபித்தார். தனிமையிலும் ஜெபித்தார். மலைக்குச் சென்று இரவு முழுவதும் ஜெபித்தார். இறைவனிடமிருந்து வல்லமையை பெற்றுக்கொண்டார். அந்த வல்லமையால் மக்களை குணப்படுத்தினார். வல்லமை கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருகிறது. ஜெபத்தின் வழியாக வல்லமை கிடைக்கிறது. வல்லமை மக்களின் நலனுக்காக பயன்படுகிறது.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 6:6-11

Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?”

In this passage there is a group made up of Scribes and Pharisees, there is a man with the withered hand and then there is Jesus. The man with the withered hand is in need of assistance and care. And there is always an excuse not to help others. One can also find a religious reason not to help a man in need. Here in this case, it is Sabbath that is the reason for not helping the man in need.

Pharisees and the Scribes look at the others to find reason to accuse them. They were very meticulous in fulfilling the rules. But here in this case they knew the rule to check the other about his fulfilling the rule. They were only trying to find fault with the others. Jesus on the other hand was trying to do good to the needy. He was looking for an opportunity to do good.

மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் பரிசேயரும், இயேசுவும், வலக்கை சூம்பியவர் ஒருவரும் தொழுகைக்கூடத்திற்குள் இருந்தார்கள். வலக்கை சூம்பியவருக்கு உதவி தேவைப்பட்டது. மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் பரிசேயரும் ஒழுங்குகளுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்தார்கள். அதுமட்டுமல்ல மற்றவர்கள் ஒழுங்குகளை கடைகிடிக்கிறார்களா என்பதில் கருத்தாய் இருந்தார்கள் இரக்கத்தை மறந்தார்கள். பிறர் தேவையே நன்மை செய்வதற்கு காரணமாக கண்ட இயேசு நற்பணி செய்கிறார்.
