Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 1:39-56

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my saviour.

Mary’s external proclamation and the internal rejoicing are centered on God. Mary’s experience of God in her life; in the life of her community; in the experience of her society compelled her at this moment to sing praise to God. The experience of God was beyond time (His mercy is from age to age) and space and people (dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart; thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly).

The experience of God by the people of Israel and the experience of God in the society were also experienced by Mary in her life (For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; The Mighty One has done great things for me). Experience of God not a thing of the past rather it is personal and it is here and now. Such an experience of God will make the following possible: joyful external proclamation of God and inner rejoicing of the presence of God.

ஆண்டவரை எனது உள்ளம் போற்றிப் பெருமைப் படுத்துகின்றது. என் மீட்பராம் கடவுளை நினைத்து எனது மனம் பேருவகை கொள்கின்றது.

ஆண்டவரை போற்றிப் பெருமைப் படுத்துவதும், மீட்பராம் கடவுளை நினைத்து மனம் பேருவகை கொள்வதும் இறைஅனுபவம் பெற்றவர்களால்தான் முடியும். வுரலாற்றில்; சமுதாயத்தில்; இஸ்ராயேல் மக்களில் இறைவன் செய்த அரும் செயல்களை மரியா தனது வாழ்விலும் அனுபவிக்கிறாள். இந்த அனுபவமே மரியாவை இறைபுகழ் பாட உந்தி தள்ளுகிறது.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 18:1-5,10,12-14

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father”.

Kingdom of heaven is a place for the children and child-like persons. One of the qualities of the child is to humble himself. A child wants to learn more about things and that is the reason he comes (humbles) and asks for explanations. A child accepts his limitations and asks for help and assistance (does not pretend).

Receiving a child in the name of Jesus receives Jesus. So Jesus associates with the child or shows his relationship with a child. The relationship is so much that it is almost identification. Jesus almost presents himself as a child. So grownups should live like Jesus (humility etc) and thus become child-like and in turn ready to be members of the kingdom.

இச்சிறியோருள் ஒருவரையும் நீங்கள் இழிவாகக் கருதவேண்டாம்@ கவனமாயிருங்கள்! இவர்களுடைய வானதூதர்கள் என் விண்ணகத் தந்தையின் திருமுன் எப்பொழுதும் இருக்கின்றார்கள் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

சிறியவர்போல் இருப்பவர்கள்தான் விண்ணரசில் நுழையமுடியும். இயேசுவின் பெயரால் சிறியவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர்கள் இயேசுவையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார்கள். இயேசு தன்னை சிறியோரோடு இணைத்துக்கொள்கிறார். இயேசுவைப்போல் வாழ்தல் சிறியோரைப்போல் இருப்பதற்கு சமம். சிறியோரைப்போல் (இயேசுவைப்போல்) இருத்தல்தான் நாம் விண்ணரசுக்கு அழைத்துச் செல்லப்படுவோம்.
