Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 7:21-29

Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.

Anyone who speaks in the name of God or prophesy or invoke God saved. In this passage Jesus speaks of salvation not through profession but through listening to the word. Invocation, prophecy, prayer are all good in themselves but they may not help one to enter into the kingdom.

Only those who discern the will of God and act accordingly or those who listen to the word of God are saved. Listening brings salvation rather than speaking. Listening is one of the important qualities of God. When Cain killed his brother Abel and he thought he has silenced his brother, but God said the blood of your brother cried unto me. God listened to the cry of Abel and he also heard the cry of Israelites in Egypt. Hearing (listening) is the quality of God.

ஆகவே, நான் சொல்லும் இவ்வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு இவற்றின்படி செயல்படுகிற எவரும் பாறைமீது தம் வீட்டைக் கட்டிய அறிவாளிக்கு ஒப்பாவார்.

இறைவாக்கினராயிருத்தல் இறைவேண்டல் செய்தல் ஒருவருக்கு மீட்பை கிடைக்கச் செய்யாது. மாறாக இறை சித்தத்தை அறிந்து அதன்படி நடத்தலும் இறைவார்த்தை கேட்டு அதன்படி நடத்தலுமே மீட்பை கொடுக்கும். பிறருக்கு செவிமடுத்தல் இறை குணங்களில் ஒன்று.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 7:15-20

Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them.

False prophets are those who pretend. They go about like sheep but within them they are ravenous wolves. Externally they present themselves to be good and holy and they show themselves to be the mildest of all being. All what they have within is evil and evil intentioned. Jesus asks his followers to discern properly and not be carried away by the externals.

Fruits are the clear signs of the trees and the type of trees. Good fruits will point towards the good trees. It is the nature and it is natural to find the trees from their fruits. Again Jesus reminds the followers to distinguish the good and the bad. Bad trees will have bad end. Bad trees will be cut down and burned. Trees cannot pretend and hence it is easy to distinguish.

நல்ல கனி கொடாத மரங்களெல்லாம் வெட்டப்பட்டு நெருப்பில் எறியப்படும். இவ்வாறு போலி இறைவாக்கினர் யாரென அவர்களுடைய செயல்களைக் கொண்டே இனங்கண்டு கொள்வீர்கள்.

போலி இறைவாக்கினர்கள் வெளிவேடக்காரர்கள். நல்லவர்கள் போல் நடிப்பார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்களின் செயல்களும் உள்ளார்ந்த எண்ணங்களும் எதிர்மறையாக இருக்கின்றன. இவர்களை குறித்து எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள் என்று இயேசு கூறுகிறார். கனிகளைக் கொண்டு மரத்தை அறிந்து கொள்ள முடியும் மனிதனை ஆய்ந்து அறிய வேண்டும்.
